Pop. (1906) 37,582 (town); 43,654 (See also:commune). It is practically a suburb of Genoa and contains a number of handsome palaces, including the Palazzo See also:Spinola and the Palazzo Scassi, both probably built by G. See also:Alessi. It has become a See also:place of See also:great See also:industrial and commercial activity, the Ansaldo See also:ship-See also:building yard being the most important of its workshops. Near the of See also:battle as the last See also:Spanish See also:vessel surrendered, and the engagement was fought in accordance with his instructions. He was promoted to See also:commodore in 1898, to See also:rear-See also:admiral on the 3rd of See also:March 1899, and was made commandant of the See also:Boston (See also:Charlestown) See also:Navy Yard in See also:October of the same See also:year. He died on the 6th of May 1902.
