Sancti Spiritus was one of the seven cities founded by Diego Valasquez. Its See also:settlement was ordered in 1514 and accomplished in 1516, and it is the fifth See also:town of the island in See also:age. The See also:present city is about two leagues from the See also:original site (See also:Pueblo Viejo). In 1518, as a result of the See also:war of the Comunidades of Castille, a mimic war See also:broke out in Sancti Spiritus among its two See also:score villagers.
