SCHNEEKOPPE , a See also:

mountain of See also:Germany, on the Silesian Bohemian frontier, the highest See also:peak (5100 ft.) of the See also:Riesengebirge, situated immediately above the See also:town of Schmiedeberg, 8 m. S. from Hirschberg. From the See also:crest, which is about 5o yds. sq. and across which runs the frontier See also:line between See also:Silesia and Bohemia, a magnificent view is obtained across the See also:Oder See also:plain to See also:Breslau on the See also:north and over Bohemia to the See also:south-See also:west. Just below the See also:ridge, on the Prussian See also:side, lies the See also:chapel of St See also:Lawrence, which was used as a See also:hospice for travellers from 1824 to 185o, when a new See also:hostel was erected. Since 1900 a meteorological station has been established here. See Zetzmann, See also:Panorama von der Schneekoppe (See also:Berlin, 1903).
