Simancas is a town of See also:great antiquity, the See also:Roman Septimanca, with a. citadel dating from the Moorish occupation in the 9th See also:century, a See also:fine See also:bridge of seventeen See also:arches, and many remains of old walls. In 934 it was the See also:scene of a bloody See also:battle between the See also:Moors and Christians. The citadel is now the Archivo See also:General del Reino, to which the See also:national archives of Spain were removed by See also:order of See also: Permission to consult the documents at Simancas can be readily obtained.
