UNGAVA , an unorganized territory of the Dominion of See also:

The See also:area is estimated at 354,961 sq. m. Along Hudson Bay See also:shore there is a strip of similar rocks, and a long See also:row of small islands of the same See also:age, with See also:great sheets of See also:trap or See also:diabase forming the tops of the hills. The iron formation is widely spread. There is See also:evidence that Ungava, like the See also:rest of Labrador, has risen several See also:hundred feet since the See also:Ice Age, marine beaches being found up to 700 ft. on the Hudson Bay side; and it is interesting to find See also:seals like those of the adjoining seacoasts in the See also:Seal Lakes See also:loo m. inland and Boo ft. above the See also:present See also:sea-level. Owing to its northerly position a large See also:part of Ungava is treeless, and belongs to the barren grounds where caribou roam and feed on the so-called caribou See also:moss, a greyish See also:lichen.
