Situated at the intersection of two roads—from See also:Kulja to See also:Tashkent, and from See also:Semipalatinsk to See also:Kashgar—Vyernyi carries on an active See also:trade in See also:wheat, See also:rice, See also:corn, See also:tea, oil and See also:tobacco. It was the centre of a remarkable See also:earthquake on the 9th of See also:June 1887.
