(19o1) 26,143. It lies on the S. See also:bank of the See also:river See also:Derwent, at its outflow into the Irish See also:Sea. The See also:harbour is safe, being protected by a stony See also:beach and by a See also:breakwater. The See also:Lonsdale See also:dock is 42 acres in extent. The See also:port was made subordinate to that of See also:Maryport in 1892.
