Hamilton, in 1683, and became lecturer in materia medica and See also:botany at See also:Edinburgh and also See also:superintendent of the botanical gardens, of the See also:plants in which he published a See also:catalogue in 1740. He was a critic of See also:Linnaeus's See also:system of plant-See also:classification (see BOTANY). He died on the 22nd of See also:November 176o at Edinburgh. His Lectures on Maleria Medica were published posthumously in 1770.
