In the See also:execution of this task he discovered the letters of See also:Huet, See also:bishop of See also:Avranches, and the See also:MSS. of the See also:works of See also:Fenelon. He became librarian successively to the See also:Directory, to the Conseil d'Etat, and in 1807 to See also:Napoleon, from whom he carried out a number of commissions. He produced a See also:standard See also:work in his Dictionnaire See also:des ouvrages anonymes et pseudonymes (4 vols., 1806–1809; 3rd edition 1872–1879). Only the first See also:part of his Examen critique des dictionnaires historiques (182o) was published.
