As a lawgiver also Birger laboured strenuously in the interests of See also:civilization. In his old See also:age he married the daughter of King See also:Abel. There is a See also:fine statue of the See also:great jarl in the Riddarholm See also:church at Stockholm, erected by See also:Fogelberg at the expense of the Stockholm magistracy in 1884. He is also the central figure of Fr. Hedberg's See also:drama Brollopet pd Ulfdsa (1865). See Sveriges Historia, vol. i. (Stockholm, 1879-1883).
