CHENOPODIUM , or See also:

GOOSE-See also:FOOT, a genus of erect or prostrate herbs (natural See also:order Chenopodiaceae), usually growing on the seashore or on See also:waste or cultivated ground. The See also:green angular See also:stem is often striped with See also:white or red, and, like the leaves, often more or less covered with mealy hairs. The leaves are entire, lobed or toothed, often more or less deltoid or triangular in shape. The See also:minute See also:flowers are bisexual, and See also:borne in dense axillary or terminal clusters or spikes. The See also:fruit is a membranous one-seeded utricle often enclosed by the persistent calyx. Ten See also:species occur in See also:Britain, one of which, C. See also:Bonus-Henricus, See also:Good See also:King See also:Henry, is cultivated as a pot-See also:herb, in lieu of See also:asparagus, under the name See also:mercury, and all-good.
