The latter built the gallery which leads to the left bank of the Cher. Chenonceaux passed successively into the hands of See also:Louise de Vaudemont, wife of Henry III., the See also:house of See also:Vendome, and the See also:family of See also:Bourbon-See also:Conde. In the 18th century it came into the See also:possession of the See also:farmer-See also:general See also:Claude See also:Dupin (1684–176g), who entertained the most distinguished See also:people in France within its walls. In 1864 it was sold to the chemist See also:Theophile See also:Pelouze, whose wife executed extensive restorations. It subsequently became the See also:property of the See also:Credit Foncier, and again passed into private occupancy.
