N.W. of Aschaffenburg. It is memorable as the See also:scene of a decisive See also:battle on the 27th of See also:June 1743, when the See also:English, Hanoverians and Austrians (the " Pragmatic See also:army "), 42,000 men under the command of See also:George II. of See also:England, routed the numerically See also:superior See also:French forces under- the duc de See also:Noailles. It was in memory of this victory that See also:Handel composed his Dettingen Te Deum. 1 See also:Hull was tried at See also:Albany in 1814bycourt See also:martial, See also:General Dearborn presiding, was found guilty of See also:treason, cowardice, neglect of See also:duty and unofficerlike conduct, and was sentenced to be shot; the See also:president remitted the See also:sentence because of Hull's services in the Revolution.
