(1900) 2752; (1905, See also:state See also:census) 5332, of whom 2975 were See also:foreign-See also:born (1145 Finns, 676 Austrians and 325 Swedes); (1910) 7036. Eveleth is served by the Duluth, Missabe & See also:Northern and the Duluth & See also:Iron Range See also:rail-ways. It lies in the midst of the See also:great red and See also:brown hematite iron-ore deposits of the Mesabi Range—the richest in the See also:Lake See also:Superior district—and the See also:mining and See also:shipping of this ore are its See also:principal See also:industries. The See also:municipality owns and operates the See also:water-See also:works, the water being obtained from Lake See also:Saint See also:Mary, one of a See also:chain of small lakes lying S. of the city. Eveleth was first chartered as a city in 1902.
