He was educated for the See also:stage under See also:Ludwig See also:Tieck and made his first See also:appearance in 1846 in See also:Weimar, afterwards acting at See also:Prague (1849—1851) and See also:Karlsruhe (1852—1855). From 186o to 1866 he played in St See also:Petersburg, then was manager of the See also:court See also:theatre in See also:Coburg, and in 1869 (and again in 1882—1883) visited the See also:United States. He was manager of the Stadt Theater in See also:Leipzig from 187o to 1876, when he removed to Berlin, where he devoted his energies to the See also:foundation and management of the Deutsches Theater. He finally retired from the stage in 1898. Haase's aristocratic appearance and elegant manner fitted him specially to See also:play high See also:comedy parts. His See also:chief roles were those of Rocheferrier in the Partie See also:Piquet; See also:Richelieu; See also:Savigny in Der feiner Diplomat, and der See also:Furst in Der geheime See also:Agent. He is the author of Ungeschminkte Briefe and Was ich erlebte 1846—180 (Berlin, 1898). See See also:Simon, Friedrich Haase (Berlin, 1898).
