It has three ,other Evangelical churches, a See also:Roman See also:Catholic church and several See also:schools. Its See also:industries are chiefly connected with ironwares, but See also:leather, See also:beer, See also:soap and toys are also manufactured. Karl Wilhelms (1815-1873), the composer of " See also:Die Wacht am Rhein," was See also:born here, and there is a memorial of him in the See also:market-See also:place. Schmalkalden, which was first mentioned in 874, came wholly into the See also:possession of Hesse in 1583, having been a town since 1335.
