SHORNCLIFFE , a military station in See also:

Kent, See also:England, on high ground immediately See also:north of See also:Sandgate and 3 M. W. of See also:Folkestone. It was first established in 1803, when See also:Sir See also:John See also:Moore here trained the troops which afterwards formed the See also:Light See also:Division in the See also:Peninsular See also:War. Its position was chosen as a strategic position on the flank of the See also:French invader who was expected at the See also:time to descend upon the See also:English See also:coast.
