See also:SZALAY, LADISLAS (1813-1864) , Hungarian statesman and historian, was See also:born at Buda on the 18th of See also:April 1813. After the completion of his studies, he became a member of the Hungarian See also:parliament, and in 1848 he represented See also:Hungary in the See also:German See also:national parliament at See also:Frankfort. He took See also:part in the revolution of 1848-49, and was obliged to seek See also:refuge in See also:Switzerland, where he wrote his See also:history of Hungary. This important See also:work, published at See also:Budapest (1856-186o), extends to 1707. Szalay also wrote remarkable studies on See also:Pitt, See also:Fox, See also:Mirabeau and other statesmen, and contributed very considerably to the codification of Magyar See also:law. In later See also:life he returned to Hungary, but he died at See also:Salzburg on the 17th of See also:July 1864.
