In 1871 he removed to See also:Innsbruck; in 1873 he was appointed professor at the university of Vienna, and here he was See also:historical See also:tutor to the See also:crown See also:prince See also:Rudolph. In 1891 he was made director of the Vienna See also:institute for historical See also:research, and in 1896 director of the imperial See also:court library at Vienna. He resigned his professorial See also:chair in 1897 and died on the 27th of May 1899.
