In 162o she married a See also:nephew of the See also:constable de See also:Luynes, See also:Antoine de See also:Beauvoir du Roure, sieur de Combalet, who died in 1622. In 1625, through her See also:uncle's See also:influence, she was made a See also:lady-in-waiting (See also:dame d'atour) to the See also:queen-See also:mother, and in 1638 was created duchess of Aiguillon. She did not marry a second See also:time, although Richelieu wished to marry her to a prince—either to the See also:comte de See also:Soissons or to the See also:king's See also:brother. After the See also:death of the cardinal (1642) she retained her honours and titles, but withdrew from the See also:court, and devoted herself entirely to See also:works of charity. She entered into relations with See also:Saint See also:Vincent de See also:Paul and helped him to establish the See also:hospital for foundlings. She also took See also:part in organizing the See also:General Hospital and several others in the provinces. She died on the 17th of See also:April 1675. She was the patroness of See also:Corneille, who in 1636 dedicated to her his tragedy of The See also:Cid.
