He was sent by the Dilettanti Society with See also:Nicholas Revett, an architect, and Pars, a painter, to explore the antiquities of See also:Ionia and See also:Greece (1763—1766); and the result of their work was the two magnificent folios of Ionian antiquities published in 1769.
