HENRY , an 18th See also:century See also:English See also:cabinet-maker and See also:furniture designer. He appears to have been the first manufacturing cabinet-maker who published designs for furniture. A New See also:Book of Ornaments appeared in 1746, but it is not clear whether the engravings with this See also:title formed See also:part of a book, or were issued only in See also:separate plates; a few of the latter are all that are known to exist. Between 1752 and 1769 several collections of designs were produced by Copeland in See also:conjunction with See also:Matthias See also:Lock; in one of them Copeland is described as of Cheapside. Some of the See also:original drawings are in the See also:National See also:Art library at the See also:Victoria and See also:Albert Museum. Copeland was probably the originator of a See also:peculiar type of See also:chair-back, popular for a few years in the See also:middle of the 18th century, consisting of a See also:series of interlaced circles.
