By his See also:uncle, Dr Lars Montin, to whom his See also:education was entrusted, he was sent to the university of See also:Gothenburg, whence he removed to See also:Lund. After taking his degree there in 1776, he studied at See also:Upsala under See also:Linnaeus, and then became for a See also:time See also:tutor to a See also:young Swedish nobleman. He next visited See also:England, and, on the See also:death of his friend Dr See also:Daniel See also:Charles Solander (1736-1782), succeeded him as librarian to See also:Sir See also:Joseph See also:Banks. He was librarian to the Royal Society and also to the Linnean Society. Of the latter, in 1788, he was one of the founders, and, when it was incorporated by royal See also:charter in 1802, he took a leading See also:part in See also:drawing up its See also:laws and regulations. He was See also:vice-See also:president of the society till his death, which took See also:place in See also:London on the 19th of See also:October 181o. Besides papers in the Transactions of the Linnean and other See also:societies, Dryander published Dissertatio gradualis fungos regno vegetabili vindicans (Lund, 1776), and Catalogus bibliothecae historico-naturalis Josephi Banks, See also:Bart. (London, 1796-1800, 5 vols.). He also edited the first and part of the second edition of W. See also:Aiton's Hortus Kewensis and W. Roxburgh's See also:Plants of the See also:Coast of Coromandel.
