He was educated at St See also:Peter's school, See also:York, and at Trinity See also:College, See also:Cambridge. He became a See also:minor See also:fellow of his college in 1711, and in the next See also:year was admitted to a full fellowship: He was made poet See also:laureate in 1718 by the See also:lord See also:chancellor, the See also:duke of See also:Newcastle, as a See also:reward for a flattering poem on his See also:marriage. He was rector of Coningsby, See also:Lincolnshire, where he died on the 27th of September 1730. His name is less remembered by his See also:translations and gratulatory poems than by the numerous satirical allusions of See also:Pope, e.g. " Know, Eusden thirsts no more for See also:sack or praise; He sleeps among the dull of See also:ancient days." Dunciad, bk. i. II. 293-294.
