In 1810 Guerin made his first See also:appearance at the See also:Salon with some portraits, which had a certain success. In 1812 be exhibited " See also:Cain after the See also:murder of See also:Abel " (formerly in Luxembourg), and, on the return of the Bourbons, was much employed in See also:works of restoration and decoration at See also:Versailles. His "Dead See also:Christ" (See also:Cathedral, See also:Baltimore) obtained a See also:medal in 1817, and this success was followed up by a See also:long See also:series of works, of which the following are the more See also:note-worthy: " Christ on the knees of the Virgin " (1819) ; " See also:Anchises and See also:Venus " (1822) (formerly in Luxembourg); " Ulysses and See also:Minerva " (1824) (Musee de See also:Rennes) ; "the See also:Holy See also:Family" (1829) (Cathedral, Toulon); and " See also:Saint See also:Catherine " (1838)(St Ruch). In his treatment of subject, Guerin attempted to realize See also:rococo See also:graces of conception, the liveliness of which was lost in the strenuous effort to be correct. His See also:chief successes were attained by portraits, and those of See also:Charles See also:Nodier and the See also:Abbe See also:Lamennais became widely popular. He died on the 19th of See also:January 1855.
