Hosius was not distinguished as a theologian, though he See also:drew up the Confessio fidei chrisliana catholica adopted by the See also:synod of See also:Piotrkow in 1557. He was, however, supreme as a diplomatist and See also:administrator. Besides carrying through many difficult negotiations, he founded the See also:lyceum of See also:Braunsberg, which became the centre of the Roman See also:Catholic See also:mission among Protestants. He died at Capranica near See also:Rome on the 5th of See also:August 1579.
