LONGUEVILLE , the name of a See also:

French See also:family which originated with See also:Jean, See also:count of See also:Dunois, the " See also:Bastard of See also:Orleans, " to whom See also:Charles VII. gave the countship of Longueville in See also:Normandy in 1443. See also:Francois of Orleans, count of Longueville, was created See also:duke in 15os. The See also:marriage of his See also:brother See also:Louis with Jeanne, daughter and heiress of See also:Philip, count of See also:Baden-Hochberg-Sausenberg (d. 1503), added considerable estates to the See also:house of Longueville. See also:Henry, duc de Longueville (d. 1663), took an important See also:part in the See also:Fronde, and for a See also:long See also:time held the royal troops in check in Normandy. His wife, See also:Anne See also:Genevieve (see below), was a leading figure in the See also:political dissensions of the time. The last of the family was Jean Louis, the See also:Abbe d'Orleans, who died in 1694. The numismatist, Charles d'Orleans-See also:Rothelin (169 r—i 744), belonged to a bastard See also:branch of the family.
