TAULANTII , in See also:

ancient See also:geography, an Illyrian See also:people in the neighbourhood of Epidamnus (Thuc. i. 24). They were origin-ally powerful and See also:independent, under their own See also:kings. One of these was Glaucias, who fought against See also:Alexander the See also:Great, and placed See also:Pyrrhus, the See also:infant See also:king of See also:Epirus, whom he had refused to surrender to See also:Cassander, upon the See also:throne (See also:Plutarch, Pyrrhus, 3). Later the Taulantii See also:fell under the sway of the kings of See also:Illyria, and when the See also:Romans were carrying on See also:war against the Illyrian See also:queen, Teuta, they were unimportant.
