Pop. of See also:urban See also:district (,co,) 10,886. It is 33 M. N.N.W. of See also:Belfast on the See also:Northern Counties (Midland) railway. See also:Branch lines run to Larne and to Parkmore on the See also:east See also:coast. The town owes its prosperity chiefly to its See also:linen See also:trade, introduced in 1733, which gives employment to the greater See also:part of the inhabitants. See also:Brown linen is a specialty. See also:Iron ore is raised in the neighbourhood. Antiquities in the See also:neighbour-See also:hood are few and the See also:present buildings of Ballymena See also:Castle and Galgorm Castle are See also:modern.
