See also:FAWCETT, See also:JOHN (1768-1837) , See also:English actor and playwright, was See also:born on the 29th of See also:August 1768, the son of an actor of the same name (d. 1793). At the See also:age of eighteen he ran away from school and appeared at See also:Margate as Courtall in The Belle's Stratagem; afterwards he joined See also:Tate See also:Wilkinson's See also:company and turned from tragedy to See also:low See also:comedy parts. In 1791 he appeared at Covent See also:Garden, and in 1794 at the Haymarket. Colrnan, then manager of that See also:house, wrote a number of parts designed to suit his talents, and two of Fawcett's greatest successes were as Dr. Pangloss in The See also:Heir at See also:Law (1797) and as Dr 011apod in The Poor See also:Gentleman (1798). He retired from the See also:stage in 1830.
