It is the See also:terminus of the Eastern railway, and is a See also:town of some See also:industrial activity, See also:shipbuilding, See also:soap-boiling, saw-milling, smelting; See also:iron-See also:founding, See also:furniture-making, See also:flour-milling, See also:brewing and tanning being its See also:chief See also:industries. The See also:harbour, by the construction of two See also:long moles and the See also:blasting away of the rocks at the See also:bar, has been rendered secure. The See also:English, See also:French and See also:German See also:mail steamers See also:call at the See also:port. Fremantle became a See also:municipality in 1871; but there are now three See also:separate municipalities—Fremantle, with a See also:population in 1901 of 14,704; Fremantle See also:East (2494); and Fremantle See also:North (3246).
