It is served by the See also:Chicago & See also:North-Western and the Chicago, See also:Milwaukee & St See also:Paul See also:railways, and by electric lines connecting with See also:Madison and See also:Beloit, Wis., and See also:Rockford, See also:Illinois. The Rock river is not commercially navigable at this point, but furnishes valuable See also:water-See also:power for manufacturing purposes. The city is picturesquely situated on bluffs above the river. Janesville is the centre of the See also:tobacco See also:trade of the See also:state, and has various manufactures.
