LAGHMAN , a See also:

district of See also:Afghanistan, in the See also:province of See also:Jalalabad, between Jalalabad and See also:Kabul, on the See also:northern See also:side of the See also:Peshawar road, one of the richest and most fertile tracts in Afghanistan. It is the valley of the Kabul See also:river between the Tagao and the See also:Kunar and merges on the See also:north into See also:Kafiristan. The inhabitants, Ghilzais and Tajiks, are supposed to be the cleverest business See also:people in the See also:country. See also:Sugar, See also:cotton and See also:rice are exported to Kabul. The Laghman route between Kabul and See also:India See also:crossing the Kunar river into the See also:Mohmand country is the route followed by See also:Alexander the See also:Great and See also:Baber; but it has now been supplanted by the Khyber.
