He began See also:writing in the See also:Aberdeen See also:Free See also:Press; in 1862 he was appointed to the See also:staff of the Daily See also:Review at See also:Edinburgh, and at twenty-two he became editor of the See also:Northern Daily See also:Express. In 1865 he went to See also:London to accept a position on the staff of the Daily See also:Telegraph, which he retained until 1875, being See also:special correspondent in See also:France in 187o and 1871. In 1873 he became a See also:leader-writer on The Times. He died in London on the 2nd of See also:March 1879. His See also:posthumous France since the First See also:Empire, though incomplete, gave a See also:clever and accurate See also:account of the See also:French politics of his See also:time.
