He was commissioned See also:captain (1717), See also:major, See also:lieutenant-See also:colonel, and in 1726 colonel of See also:militia. Pepperrell served in the Massachusetts general See also:court (1726-1727), and in the See also:governor's See also:council (1727-1759), of which for eighteen years he was See also:president. Although not a trained lawyer, he was See also:chief See also:justice of the court of See also:common pleas from 1730 until his See also:death. In 1745 he was See also:commander-in-chief of the New See also:England force of about 4000, which, with the assistance of a See also:British See also:squadron under See also:Commodore See also:- PETER
