Oxford, taking a See also:double first in 1823. In 1826 he was chosen See also:fellow of Oriel and was ordained, among his See also:friends and colleagues being See also:Newman, See also:Pusey and See also:Keble. For a few years he was one of the tutors at Oriel, but the See also:provost, See also:Edward See also:Hawkins, disliked his religious views, and in 1831 he resigned and See also:left Oxford. In 1832 he obtained the living of See also:East Farleigh, See also:Kent, which in 184o he exchanged for that of See also:Burton See also:Agnes, near See also:Hull. He left two sons, the younger of whom, Edward Wilberforce (b. 1834), became one of the masters of the Supreme See also:Court of Judicature. Edward's son, Lionel Robert Wilberforce (b. 1861), was in 'goo appointed See also:professor of physics in the university of See also:Liverpool.
