He took a See also:great See also:interest in colonial See also:missions, especially among the See also:American See also:Indians, and it is to his exertions that the Society for the See also:Propagation of the See also:Gospel owes its existence. He also projected a successful See also:scheme for establishing See also:parish See also:libraries in See also:England and See also:America, out of which See also:grew the Society for Promoting See also:Christian Knowledge. From 1706 till his See also:death in See also:February 1730 he was rector of St Botolph-Without, Aldgate, London, being unceasingly engaged in philanthropic and See also:literary pursuits.
