CAMBUSLANG , a See also:

town of See also:Lanarkshire, See also:Scotland. It is situated near the See also:Clyde, 41 M. S.E. of See also:Glasgow (of which it is a residential suburb) by the Caledonian railway. Pop. (1891) 8323; (1901) 12,252. Its leading See also:industries include See also:coal-See also:mining, See also:turkey-red See also:dyeing and See also:brick-making. It contains one of the largest See also:steel See also:works in the See also:United See also:Kingdom. Among the See also:chief edifices are a public See also:hall, See also:institute and library. It was the birthplace of See also:John See also:Claudius See also:London (1783-1843), the landscape gardener and writer on See also:horticulture, whose See also:Arboretum et Fruticetum Britannicum still ranks as an authority.
