Maria possesses a See also:fine See also:portico, erected in 1210 by See also:Laurentius See also:Romanus, his son Jacobus and his See also:grandson See also:Cosmas, in the cosmatesque See also:style, with See also:ancient columns and See also:mosaic decorations: the interior was modernized in the 18th See also:century, but has some fragments of cosmatesque ornamentation. The citadel was erected by See also:Pope See also:Alexander VI. from the designs of See also:Antonio da See also:Sangallo the See also:elder, and enlarged by See also:Julius II. and See also:Leo X.
