FISKE, MINNIE MADDERN (1865– ) , See also:American actress, was See also:born in New See also:Orleans, the daughter of See also:Thomas Davey. As a See also:child she played, under her See also:mother's name of Maddern, with several well-known actors. In 1882 she first appeared as a " See also:star," but in 1890 she married See also:Harrison See also:Grey Fiske and was absent from the See also:stage for several years. In 1893 she reappeared in Hester See also:Crewe, a See also:play written by her See also:husband, and afterwards acted a number of See also:Ibsen's heroines, and in Becky See also:Sharp, a dramatization of See also:Thackeray's Vanity See also:Fair. In 1901 she opened, in opposition to the American theatrical " See also:trust," an See also:independent See also:theatre in New See also:York, the Manhattan. She won a considerable reputation in the See also:United States as an emotional actress.
