In 1875 she married See also:William S. Jackson, a banker, of See also:Colorado Springs. She became a prolific writer of See also:prose and See also:verse, including juvenile tales, books of travel, See also:household hints and novels, of which the best is Ramona (1884), a See also:defence of the See also:Indian See also:character. In 1883, as a See also:special See also:commissioner with See also:Abbot Kinney (b. r85o), she investigated the See also:condition and needs of the See also:Mission See also:Indians in See also:California. A See also:Century of Dishonor (1881) was an See also:arraignment of the treatment of the Indians by the See also:United States. She died on the 12th of See also:August 1885 in See also:San Francisco. In addition to her publications referred to above, See also:Mercy Phil-See also:brick's Choice (1876), Hefty's See also:Strange See also:History (1877), Zeph (1886), and Sonnets and Lyrics (1886) may be mentioned.
