In 18os, having attained the See also:rank of See also:lieutenant-general, he served under See also:Kutusov in the campaign of See also:Austerlitz, taking See also:part in the actions of See also:Enns and See also:Krems and in the decisive See also:battle of the 2nd of See also:December, in which his See also:column held the Pratzen heights. In the See also:Turkish See also:War he distinguished himself at See also:Giurgevo (1807). Promoted general of See also:infantry in 181o, he commanded a See also:corps at See also:Borodino, and subsequently inflicted the defeat of Tarutino (or Winkovo) on See also:Murat, See also:king of See also:Naples (See also:October 18, 1812). His corps was one of those most active in the pursuit of See also:Napoleon's Grande Armee, and in 1813 he led the See also:rear-guard of the See also:Allies after their earlier defeats. At the victory of See also:Kulm he was See also:present in command of a Russian-Prussian corps, which he led at See also:Leipzig and in the campaign of 1814. From 1818 to the See also:time of his See also:death he was military See also:governor of St See also:Petersburg. He perished in the popular outbreak in the See also:capital, on the 26th (14th o.s.) of December 1825.
