RAWMARSH , an See also:

N.E. of See also:Sheffield by the Midland railway. Pop. (2892) 11,983; (1901) 14,587. It is situated on the See also:ridge of a See also:hill above the valley of the See also:Don. The See also:church of St See also:Lawrence was rebuilt II in 1839 with the exception of the See also:Norman See also:tower. Rawmarsh has large See also:iron-See also:works, See also:steel See also:rolling-See also:mills and See also:potteries, and there are collieries in the neighbourhood. At the See also:time of the See also:Conquest the See also:manor was granted to See also:Walter d'Eyncourt, and in the 12th See also:century it was divided among the three daughters of his See also:tenant See also:Ralph Paganel, who is supposed to have been the founder of the church.
