She was the daughter of See also:Captain See also:Thomas See also:Balfour of Elwick. At the See also:age of twenty she married See also:Alexander Brunton, See also:minister of See also:Bolton in See also:Haddingtonshire, and afterwards See also:professor of See also:oriental See also:languages at See also:Edinburgh. Mrs Brunton died on the 19th of See also:December 1818. She was the author of two novels, popular in their See also:day, Self-See also:control (1810), and Discipline (1814; 1832 edition with memoir); and of a See also:posthumous fragment, Emmeline (1819).
