CESAREVICH , or more properly TSESAREVICH, the See also:

title of the See also:heir-apparent to the See also:Russian See also:throne. The full See also:official title is Nasliednik Tsesarevich, i.e. " heir of See also:Caesar," and in See also:Russia the heir to the throne is commonly called simply Nasliednik, the word Tsesarevich never being used alone. Tsarevich, a See also:form now much used in See also:England, means simply any " See also:king's son "; it is an antiquated See also:term now out of use in Russia, and was last See also:borne as heir to the throne by the unfortunate Alexius, son of See also:Peter the See also:Great. The See also:style of the wife of the tsesarevich is Tsesarevna. The Cesarewitch See also:handicap See also:race at See also:Newmarket, founded in 1839, was named after the See also:prince who was afterwards See also:Alexander II. of Russia, who paid a See also:state visit to England that See also:year.
