It is situated on the See also:south See also:coast, on the See also:Bay of Dungarvan, at the mouth of the Colligan, which divides the town into two parts, connected by a See also:bridge of a single See also:arch. The eastern suburb is called Abbeyside, where the remains of an See also:ancient keep, erected by the M'Graths, still exist, together with portions of an Augustinian friary, founded by the same See also:family in the 14th See also:century and incorporated with a See also:Roman See also:Catholic See also:chapel.
