The name " See also:bell is now generally a misnomer, other forms of See also:metal or See also:wood having been found more convenient. The See also:pyramid-shaped glockenspiel, formerly used in the orchestra for See also:simple rhythmical effects, consists of an See also:octave of semitone, hemispherical bells, placed one above the other and fastened to an See also:iron See also:rod which passes through the centre of each, the bells being of graduated sizes and diminishing in See also:diameter as the pitch rises.
