NYMPHENBURG , formerly a See also:village, but since 1899 an incorporated suburb of See also:Munich, in the See also:kingdom of See also:Bavaria. It has a See also:palace, built about the See also:middle of the 17th See also:century, on the See also:model of that at See also:Versailles, and See also:long a favourite See also:residence of the Bavarian elector, See also:Maximilian See also:Joseph. The famous See also:china manufactory of Nymphenburg, founded in 1754 at Neudeck by a See also:potter named Niedermeyer, was shortly afterwards removed hither and, after being long under royal patronage, is now a private undertaking.
