He began his study of See also:music at an See also:early See also:age, and about 1700 See also:left Berlin and went to See also:England, where he had various engagements, and where he went on with his researches into See also:ancient music. He composed a number of See also:church services and instrumental pieces, besides music for masques and plays, but he is best known in connexion with the See also:founding in 1710 of the See also:Academy of Ancient Music. In 1713 he was made a See also:Mus.D. of See also:Oxford, and in 1746 F.R.S. In 1718 he married See also:Margarita de t'Epine (d. 1746), who, as the first See also:Italian to sing in England, was described in 1692 in the See also:London See also:Gazette simply as " the Italian woman." Pepusch died in London on the loth of See also:July 1752. His See also:Treatise on See also:Harmony (See also:anonymous 1st ed. 1730) is believed to have been an embodiment of his rules drafted by his See also:pupil See also:Viscount See also:Paisley, afterwards See also:earl of See also:Abercorn.
