After holding the See also:chair of philosophy at Halle for two years, he became, in 1833, See also:professor at the university of See also:Konigsberg, where he remained till his See also:death on the 14th of See also:July 1879. In his last years he was quite See also:blind. Through-out his See also:long professorial career, and in all his numerous publications he remained, in spite of occasional deviations on particular points, loyal to the Hegelian tradition as a whole. In the See also:great See also:division of the Hegelian school, he, in See also:company with See also:Michelet and others, formed the " centre," midway between See also:Erdmann and See also:Gabler on the one See also:hand, and the " extreme See also:left " represented by See also:Strauss, See also:Feuerbach and See also:Bruno See also:Bauer. Of his numerous writings, the following may be mentioned:—1. Philosophical: Kritik der Schleiermacherschen Glaubenslehre (1836); Psychologie See also:oder Wissenschaft vom subjektiven Geist (1837; rrd ed., 1863) ; Kritische Erlauterungen See also:des Hegelschen Systems 1840) ; Vorlesungen fiber See also:Schelling (1842) ; See also:System der Wissenschaft (185o) ; Meine Reform der Hegelschen Philosophie (1852) ; Wissenschaft der logischen Idee (1858—59), with a supplement (Epilegomena, 1862); Hegels Naturphilosophie and See also:die Bearbeitung derselben durch See also:Vera (1868); Erlauterungen zu Hegels Encyklo1adie der philosophischen Wissenschaften (1871). Two other of has See also:works on Hegel are important, the Leben Hegels (1844) and the Hegel als deutscher Nationalphilosoph (187o). Between 1838 and 184o in See also:conjunction with F. W. See also:Schubert, he published an edition of the works of See also:Kant, to which he appended a See also:history of the Kantian See also:doctrine. 2. He published also an autobiography entitled Von Magdeburg nach Konigsberg (1873), which deals with his See also:life up to the See also:time of his See also:settlement at Konigsberg.
